Sparks mourn loss of founder Conboy, send best wishes to family
The Orland Park Sparks send prayers and best wishes to the family of Bernie Conboy, who passed away on Monday, Jan. 18. Bernie was one of the founders of the Orland Park Sparks, and he and his family served the organization in many capacities for several years.

Sparks earn pair of Top 25 finishes in ASA Nationals
Highlighted by a ninth place nationals finish by the 16-under squad, the Orland Park Sparks earned two Top 25 nationals finishes in early August.
The 16-under squad won five straight one-run games and advanced to the final eight of the winner's bracket before settling for a ninth place finish in Sioux Falls, S.D.- the third Top 10 finish for the 16-under in six years. The 18-under squad posted a 6-2 overall tournament record to earn a 25th place finish in Las Vegas.
Benak makes college commitment to Aurora University
Spark 18-under athlete Sarah Benak (Andrew High School) recently made a commitment to continue her softball careers in college at Aurora University.
Benak helped lead the Sparks 16-under to a ninth-place finish in the 2009 ASA Nationals in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Benak raises the mark to eight Spark athletes from the class to commit to college, joining Jenna Mychko (Illinois), Jacki Fletcher (Illinois-Chicago), Ashley Kopp (Northern Illinois), Caryn Connors (Bucknell), Emma Jarrell (Western Illinois), Alex Washkowiak (Lewis) and Lexi Southall (St. Francis). Meanwhile, 2011 Spark standouts Jessica Perkins (University of Illinois) and Teagan Walsh (Western Illinois) have made verbal commitments as well.
