At approximately 2:40 a.m. on June 15, Brianna Nordstrom singled home Emma Jarrell with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Sparks 18-under edged out the Beverly Bandits, 2-1, in the "if necessary" championship game to win the Owensboro, Kent. National Qualifier and earn a bid to the Class A ASA National Tournament in Moline.
The 18U squad joins the 10U, 12U, 14 Black and 14 Red, and 16U squads with ASA national tournament bids.
The Sparks completed a 6-1 Saturday in Owensboro, prevailing in the winner's bracket and rallying after a 9-4 setback in the initial championship contest.
