The 12U Sparks dominated bracket play in the Stone City Sharks National Qualifier to secure their bid to the 2011 ASA Nationals in Montgomery, Ala.

American Athletics eliminate Sparks
The Sparks 12U out hit the American Athletics but left 13 stranded on base and had to face elimination from nationals. Emily Dybas lead the team with four singles and Karen Martini got the lone RBI (2 singles).
The young 12U Sparks team finished their season 67 – 25.
Sparks 7, Sudden Impact 3
The Sparks get their first win in bracket play, collecting 8 hits with team and solid defense. Sammie Coffel led the charge, getting on base 4 out of 4 and Justine Cielinski hit one double, a single with 2 RBI. Sydney Linko got a base hit with 2 RBI, and other contributors were Ashley Wood with two singles, Emily Dybas single, Paige Chladek single and Karen Martini single. Justine got the win on the mound striking out three.
Sparks 6 vs. Mobile Thrillers 1
The Sparks kicked off nationals with a 6-1 victory over the Mobile Thrillers. In an entire team effort the ladies combined for 11 hits to win their first pool games. Leading the offensive domination was Emily Dybas who was 3 for 4, with 3 RBI’s and Justine Cielinski who was 3 for 4, with 1 RBI. Also contributing was Sammie Coffel (single & 1 SB), Taylor Gipson (single), Paige Chladek (single), Madison Fink (single), Elena Woulfe (single), Karen Martini (1 RBI) and Ashley Wood (BB & scored).
Justine pitched a complete game striking out 6 and allowing only 4 hits with the defensive help from her teams. Emma Reilly robbed the Thrillers of a hit at second and Emily Dybas shutdown their small ball at first base. |
