July 26: Sparks Black posted a 2-2 record in the AFA National Tournament in Elgin, dropping an opening-round elimination
contest to the Colorado Stars. Following long weather delays, the Sparks withdrew from the tournament to prepare for the ASA National Tournament in Normal, IL.
In pool play action, the Sparks prevailed over Prior
Lake, Minnesota (14-2) and the Crete Quest (4-3), while dropping a 6-1 decision to the St. Louis Menaces to place third in their pool.
