Sparks capture 9th place at ASA Nationals |
SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Sparks put together a 6-2 record to capture ninth place in the 164-team ASA National Tournament.
Team Smith 2, Sparks 1- The Sparks bowed out of the tourney with a narrow setback.
Arizona Hotshots 8, Sparks 2- Following six consecutive victories, the Sparks were bounced from the final 8 of the winner's bracket.
Sparks 6, Orlando Fear Black 2- The Sparks finally earned a "lopsided" victory, yet played their sixth straight game allowing two runs or fewer to advance to the final 8 of the winner's bracket.
Sparks 2, Indiana Magic 1- Taylor Steinhilber gained the victory and Amanda Oberc the save in the narrow victory.
Sparks 3, Washington Sidewinders 2- With their fourth straight one-run victory, the Sparks advanced in the winner's bracket on Friday morning.
Sparks 1, SoCal 3D 0- A shutout paved the way for the opening elimination victory for the Sparks in the 164-team national tourney.
Sparks 2, Tulsa Shootout 1- Amanda Oberc earned the relief victory and ignited the winning rally in the bottom of the sixth, as Orland Park won the pool championship game. Oberc doubled to open the inning and pinch-runner Sarah Benak eventually scored on a suicide squeeze by Alex Washkowiak.
Sparks 1, Kingsville Rage 0- The Sparks prevailed Monday in their pool opener behind a shutout effort from Taylor Steinhilber.
