Sparks turn in pair of Top 25 finishes at ASA Nationals
Youth was served in August, at the Sparks 10-under turned in a 17th Place finish at the ASA National Tournament in Bloomington, Ind. Meanwhile, the Sparks 14-under Red captured a 25th place finish at ASA Nationals in Midland, Texas.
All six Sparks squads successfully qualified for ASA National Tournaments this summer.
Sparks 18U completes 6-1 day for ASA Nationals bid
At approximately 2:40 a.m. on June 15, Brianna Nordstrom singled home Emma Jarrell with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Sparks 18-under edged out
the Beverly Bandits, 2-1, in the "if necessary" championship game to win the Owensboro, Kent. National Qualifier and earn a bid to the Class A ASA National Tournament in Moline.
The 18U squad
joins the 10U, 12U, 14 Black and 14 Red, and 16U squads with ASA national tournament bids.
The Sparks completed a 6-1 Saturday in Owensboro, prevailing in the winner's bracket and rallying after a 9-4
setback in the initial championship contest. Jarrell opened the seventh with a single, moved to second on Megan Bolanowski's sacrifice and raced home on the winning safety. The run made a winner of hurler
